Enticing people to use the Metro system in car-crazy California can be described as difficult at best. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority rose to the challenge by creating a unique campaign celebrating the people and communities which the Metro connects. Metro Arts & Design commissioned various artists to depict everyday riders along the path of the refurbished A Line. The campaign, entitled “More People Than You Know”, is both intimate and relevant to the local neighborhoods. The portraits are representative of each community and are displayed on digital station screens and imprinted on Metro TAP cards. The campaign was rounded out by social media.
