Back in the day, (before streaming services, iPods, and CDs), mixtapes were all the rage. These were essentially a playlist on cassette tape but took much diligence and patience to master because you were dealing with record albums and analog recording.
To promote the release of their new album “Concrete and Gold,” the Foo Fighters decided to throwback to the old days of mixtapes. Sony partnered with the Modern English Digital of the UK to create an interactive website where users are able to create their own personalized mixtape on Spotify of Foo Fighters music. The website format brought back the nostalgia of creating mixtapes for older fans while introducing music to new fans on a familiar platform.
